How We Work
Our approach to beating cancer for kids is unique. When we began, we partnered with a bold researcher, Dr Giselle Sholler, to create a research consortium. This group of children's hospitals and research institutions provides an international network where kids can enter the clinical trials you're helping us fund.
Clinical trials usually go from ideation to enrolling kids in less than a year. This model allows for greater access to clinical research by families - it is often difficult for young families to travel out of state to access cutting-edge care.
We (Beat Nb) tell the stories, share the need, and raise funds to cover the costs of clinical trials and research.
This model is working. Our research partners - now at 49 sites - are bringing new therapeutic options to kids. Kids are living longer. We continue to work toward every child and family receiving a promise at diagnosis of "we know how to beat this."
Here's a look at what we're up to with the Beat Childhood Cancer consortium.

From the beginning, we've been made up of an inspiring group of parents and advocates pushing for better outcomes for kids fighting neuroblastoma and other childhood cancers. We continue to be effective by working alongside many passionate and action-oriented communities, often centered around a specific kid fighting cancer.
It's been said "if you want to see if there's good in the world, spend a day with a family whose child is fighting cancer." You will quickly be inspired by the way people around that family pour out their time, effort, and finances to help. Pair that with the deep gravity of the fact there's a KID fighting cancer... the good alongside the difficult makes you catch your breath, and moves us to tears almost daily.
Below are just some of the stories from our community this year. There are many, many stories we haven't shared here. At the core of what we do is one driving goal: for kids to beat cancer. And we are doing that. The beautiful friendships, tragic heartbreak, and inspiring moments we get to be a part of along the way are something we will cherish forever, and are so grateful to be a part of.

Size of a postcard remembering Laurel Pearl Bares, featuring her ladybug art. Her mom, Leah, writes:
My daughter, Laurel Pearl, passed away on June 15, 2018 after bravely fighting neuroblastoma (pediatric cancer) for 16 months. She loved ladybugs and made this painting for me one day.
Laurel's family and community have organized several fundraisers in the Taunton, MA area in Laurel's memory, to change her story for the next family. We say her name often.

Google results for "Waylon Klitzman" cancer, a wonderful story of a caring young man in Wisconsin who auctioned off his pig to raise money for childhood cancer research. It wound up being sold and donated back for a total of 4 sales, and over $10,000!
Those Google results include articles in CNN and the Washington Post!
