Beat Childhood Cancer is hosted at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan. The consortium chair - Dr. Giselle Sholler administers trials at this location through the Haworth Innovative Therapeutics Clinic.
All potential study participants, including those referred to HDVCH from outside institutions, are screened and enrolled in the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic. The clinic is a 6,500 square foot space located on the 10th floor of the Children’s Hospital, and is home to 10 open infusion bays and four private infusion bays where patients can receive their transfusions and chemotherapy treatments. The space also contains a pharmacy, a play room, nine exam rooms, and two isolation exam rooms.
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital has nearly 200 pediatric physicians practicing in more than 50 pediatric specialties and programs. Patients have access to free parking in a parking ramp adjacent to the hospital. The hospital space includes a pediatric emergency department, surgical center, procedural sedation department, two floors of physician offices, larger common reception spaces, and a wireless Electronic Medical Record system (EPIC). HDVCH also offers the following ancillary services:
- Radiation oncology
- Pediatric Surgery
- Pediatric radiology (ultrasound, x-ray, Mechanical Resonance Imaging, Computerized Tomography, MIBG, PET)
- Full laboratory services
- Audiology, nutrition, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy.
