This year I attended the NMTRC symposium hosted by Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan from April 27th to the 29th. It was the 5th time it is has been held and I have been fortunate to attend each one and I can promise you that great progress has been made since the first meeting back in Burlington Vermont in May of 2009.
While there in my roles as an executive board member of the NMTRC consortium – an NB dad – and as the president of the Beat NB Cancer Foundation I can tell you it gave me great pride to be able to donate $150,000 of YOUR money to Dr. Sholler to further support her groundbreaking work that is impacting survival all across the United Sates.
What you have done with your support is truly amazing and thanks to your commitment this money helped fund a phase I/II study for kids with relapsed or refractory neuroblastoma by combining DFMO & Velcade. This is yet another exciting study that looks to build on all of the prior work you have helped to fund in order to improve the survival of kids fighting to stay alive today!
This is a very exciting time for the NMTRC as momentum continues to build – new centers added – and hospitals all across the United States – and the world – are all hoping to join this group in helping to save kids today! We will continue our efforts to do as much as we can to support her work and to BEAT NB!
