D. 202 cheerleaders raise money at 6th annual “Cheer for Child”

Cheerleaders from seven District 202 middle schools will be performing in the 6th annual “Bring Cheer for a Child” fundraiser on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. These cheerleaders will be entertaining the crowd with their holiday themed routines all in memory of Mark Staehely who passed away after a 6 year battle with Neuroblastoma. The event is open to the public and free of charge; however, attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped toy in lieu of admission to donate to the “Mark Staehely Toy Drive.” All of the toys will be given to patients at Children’s Memorial Hospital. What a wonderful way to keep a child’s legacy alive! Chicagotribune.com.

Fundraiser planned for infant boy with tumors

Early detection of cancer is pivotal, if not life saving. Although he is not yet a month old, baby Kohen Wright has already found himself in a battle with cancer. At 8 days old, Kohen was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when a mass was found in his chest. The tumor has since been removed and biopsied but results are currently pending as to the form of Neuroblastoma he has. As the Wright family awaits these results the travel expenses and medical bills continue to mount. Thankfully some amazing people in the community have come together to organize a fundraiser for the Wright family. A spaghetti dinner with a silent auction is scheduled for December 14, 2013. We are all praying for positive results and a great turnout for the fundraiser! Omaha.com.

Thousands donated to neuroblastoma toddler Kian Musgrove’s life-saving fund

Friends, family, and complete strangers have raised over £10,000 for 18 month old neuroblastoma fighter Kian Musgrove! Kian’s family must raise £500,000 for life-saving treatment that Kian can only receive in the US if he relapses on his current treatment of Tyneside. Kat Musgrove, Kian’s mum said, “It’s incredible that people care so much – we’ve been touched by the response. We know the support can’t stop Kian’s cancer but it is so comforting knowing that we have people behind us. Everyone has just been incredible.” chroniclelive.co.uk.

Darwin youngster responding well to US cancer treatment

Four year old Sam Shaw of Hoddlesden, England is responding very well to treatment he is receiving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Santa needs special elves to help cancer-stricken girl

Santa wrangled up his best elves to bring a smile to 8 year old, Stage IV Neuroblastoma fighter, Bailey Bennett. Bailey was recently sent home on hospice and told that there are no further medical treatments for her. Santa, wanting to bring a smile to her face brought Bailey her own “Elf on the Shelf,” which she named Peppermint. “She’s an inspiration to a lot of people. She’s tough, she’s tough,” Bailey’s mother said, as Santa gave her a final hug and wished Bailey: “Merry Christmas to you, dear.” fox19.com.
