HARTLAND, WI – Gold In September® (G9) was founded by Annie Bartosz in 2012 when she was only 11 years old. Annie spent much of her childhood traveling around the country to support her twin brother, Jack, during his battle with pediatric cancer. Upon Jack’s passing at age 10, Annie didn’t give up. Instead, she became determined to color the world gold in September for childhood cancer just as she saw the world turn pink in October for breast cancer. Now a sophomore at Arrowhead High School, Annie asks other kids to join her in the fight against childhood cancer with G9 Penny Wars, a week-long project in a school setting that is designed to inspire youth philanthropy, leadership and social entrepreneurship while supporting the mission of G9.

According to Annie, “If everyone stopped being positive and helpful when things didn’t go their way, no one would make a difference. I’m determined to make a difference for kids with cancer.”

If you know a student who is looking to make a difference with an incredible leadership opportunity, please encourage them to join Annie’s golden circle by hosting a G9 Penny Wars campaign.

If you or your company are looking for additional ways to get involved and turn the world gold, here are a few suggestions to get you started:

Sponsor the G9 Penny Wars youth program
Hold a fundraiser – Read-a-Thon, bake sale, t-shirts, sporting event
Offer a gold day or jeans day at work

Says Annie, “On behalf of my brother, Jack, and all other children who lost a battle with cancer or who are fighting for their lives right now, thank you for considering hosting a G9 Penny Wars. Thank you for believing in Gold in September®.”

Awareness and funds raised will be used in full to support the mission of Gold In September®. Utilizing a noble model of inspiring the world to GROW GOLD, G9’s mission is to increase funding for childhood cancer research and initiatives by growing awareness that inspires action so every child, everywhere survives cancer. G9 directly funds Early Phase Trials, bringing the most advanced and promising treatments to children faster.
