This Week in Neuroblastoma – 6/4/12

Our third week of This Week in Neuroblastoma (#TWiNb), and it’s a busy one! Because of Ezra is ramping up our fight against neuroblastoma, and as a part of that effort we want to keep everyone aware of the comings and goings in neuroblastoma. It’s a constant beast – all the more reason we need to cure this.

Theater Group Raises Money in Remembrance of Thomas Cammack

A theater group who were very touched by 4 year old Thomas Cammack’s love of their work goes sky diving to raise money to support neuroblastoma awareness and families going through treatment. Yorkpress.co.uk

6 Year old Connor Carvajal Joins Neuroblastoma Angels

Alfie Sharpe Walks his Mom Down the Aisle!

4 year old Alfie Sharpe, diagnosed with neuroblastoma, led his mom to the altar for her wedding this week. They are raising money to get Alfie to the USA for treatment, as German doctors are unable to treat him at this stage. Dailyrecord.co.uk.

Ava Holder Joins Neuroblastoma Angels at the age of 5

After 3 and a half years of treatment, Ava Holder passed on this week. She will be missed. Bret Michaels also gave a memorial for Ava and encouraged people to give. Ave is one more reason to hate neuroblastoma – we will not stop fighting. Arizona Foothills Magazine

Pop Stars Westlife Support Niamh Curry with Acoustic Track

Niamh Curry recently passed from neuroblastoma, and had her funeral this week. Pop stars Westlife recorded an acoustic version of their hit “Unbreakable” for the funeral. Niamh’s folks have started a non-profit called Niamh’s Next Step to continue her battle. BBC.co.uk.

Colorado High School Teachers Shave Heads to Raise Funding for Haven Anderson

2 year old Haven Anderson was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in April. Her mom, a high-school science teacher, had an awesome show of support from her workmates in a “Shavin’ for Haven” event which saw over 20 faculty members go bald! OurColoradoNews.com

Superhero Connor Whipp Raising Money to Come to the US

4 year old Connor Whipp loves to dress up as superheros. He currently is one, with an arch-nemesis named neuroblastoma (I never capitalize that word). In another story showing the promise of the work being done here with nb, his family are trying to raise 250,000 pounds to get Connor to the states for a trial which could save his life. Emma Journeay Has Penpals all over the World!

9 year old Emma (diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma), wanted a penpal like they were doing in school. Her folks set up a Facebook page for her to get penpals – and have since had thousands of letters from all over the world pouring in! Newbury Port News
