At 2 1/2, she went through treatment both at St Joseph’s Children in Tampa, FL and Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC. We first met Bella and her vibrant mom Diana at St Joseph’s – Ezra and Bella were receiving treatment at the same time. Bella and Ezra met and saw each other often in the clinic at St Joe’s, and always enjoyed each other’s company.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2885″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]On December 10th, 2009, Bella was officially announced NED – No Evidence of Disease. Over the next couple years she had various treatments to keep the cancer from returning, while being busy living like a little girl should be. JFK was a common place for Bella and her mom, Diana, as they took various trips to NYC for scans, finishing out radiation, and other treatments.
In January of 2012, Bella developed a 4cm tumor in her neck that visibly presented within a few hours. Scans showed signs of neuroblastoma again, and on Friday, January 27th, 2012 Diana posted the following message:
“It is with a broken heart that I confirm Bella has relapsed. MSKCC will determine treatment on Tuesday after a full work up. Please pray for operable tumors, responsive disease, and peace for my beautiful baby as she fights the beast again! Thank you all so much!”
We know from experience Bella is as much warrior as she is princess, and her strength, like so many neuroblastoma kids, is deep and constant. Bella and Diana rest in a total trust in God and His will. Our prayers are with them.
