MEDIA ALERT

Gold In September® Founder Honored as “Hometown Hero”

HARTLAND, WI – On Thursday, September 14, 2017, the Wisconsin State Assembly recognized September 2017 as Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month in Wisconsin. The bi-partisan Assembly Joint Resolution recognizes that childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children and more must be done to raise awareness and find a cure. In congruence with the Joint Resolution, the Wisconsin State Assembly will also recognize Annie Bartosz from Hartland, Wisconsin, as a “Hometown Hero”.

WHO:

Wisconsin State Assembly
Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) – Nominated Bartosz for Hometown Hero Award
Annie Bartosz – Gold In September® Founder & Hometown Hero Award Recipient
Sarah Bartosz – Gold In September® President

WHAT:

Bartosz was nominated for the “Hometown Hero” Award by State Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) for her activism in creating awareness for children battling cancer. Shortly after her twin brother, Jack, passed away from neuroblastoma, Bartosz founded Gold in September® (G9) at just 11 years old. G9 aims to turn the world gold (G) for National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September (9) to raise awareness that inspires action so every child, everywhere survives cancer.

The Wisconsin State Assembly sees giving back to the community as one of the most valuable characteristics one can have. The Assembly’s “Hometown Heroes” program seeks to identify and recognize individuals from around the state who give of themselves to make a difference in our communities and in the lives of those around them. Hometown Hero Award winners are invited and introduced as a special guest at an Assembly floor session and given the opportunity to speak.

WHEN:

Thursday, September 14, 2017
10:00-11:00 am – Gold In September® on Assembly floor & Bartosz to speak

WHERE:

Madison State Capitol Building

WHY:

G9 is a national movement, garnering the support of Packers players such as Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb and Blake Martinez. Bartosz was the recipient of the Women & Girls Fund of Waukesha County “Young Woman of Tomorrow” Award in 2017. She also was honored at the 8th annual prestigious “the one hundred” award ceremony in Boston, Massachusetts, as a “100 Everyday Amazing” individual for her commitment to fight childhood cancer.
