Oscar’s Home – and His Family Needs Help

Oscar Knox is home and recovering from his scary trip to Philadelphia. He traveled there for a new treatment, but plans were halted after a problem was discovered with his heart. After a critical three days, Oscar’s health began to improve, but his three week stays in the US hospital may top over £400,000! Alex Starts MIBG Therapy

After scans showed that Alex’s neuroblastoma had spread down the right side of his body, doctors suggested that MIBG (Metaiodobenzylguanidine) therapy would be the next best step. This intense radiotherapy will take a toll on Alex, but his parents are hoping that the therapy will help him regain strength and open up the possibility for further treatments. epworthbells.co.uk.

Professor Receives Award for Neuroblastoma Research

Dana-Lynn T. Koomoa-Lange of University of Hawaii at Hilo was recently awarded a $675,000 grant to fund her research of NB. The talented scientist is working hard to study the disease and help create more effective chemotherapeutic drugs to fight it. hawaii.edu.

Jaiden, A Little Star

Jaiden Worrall, 2, has sadly lost his battle with neuroblastoma. Shortly after being declared clear of the disease, Jaiden underwent a stem cell transplant and became seriously ill. Doctors were not able to save him. Chuck Norris vs Childhood Cancer

Chuck Norris was recently informed that only 1-3% of the millions of dollars raised for cancer research each year actually funds childhood cancer research. He’s reminding us all that “Cancer is the No. 1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and the second overall killer of children, behind car accidents. We tend to talk about it in hushed tones instead of screaming for help. But scream we should.” wnd.com.

5k Honors Hans Weberling

Hans Weberling, 9, passed away from neuroblastoma last month. His parents are remembering their “wild little man” with a 5K that will take place at Barbara Bush Elementary on November 10th.
