Staying true to the November’s theme of ‘thankfulness’, this week’s links are full of neuroblastoma patients and families dedicated to giving back to their communities. It is amazing to see what huge hearts these young children have.
Here’s this week’s links…
Kids – Why We Fight
Brooke Hester
5 year old Brooke Hester isn’t letting cancer keep her down. Battling stage 4 neuroblastoma since she was 3, Brooke keeps a positive outlook on life and enjoys simple things like painting and her cat, Tom. She also brings gifts to other cancer patients in the hospital. After traveling for 15 months for treatment, Brooke and her family are returning back home to Texas to participate in a clinical trial. And – we may just have a video of Brooke coming up for our 800 days project! youtube.com.

NB Patient Helps Fund Research
Twenty-six year old Anna O’Connor passed away in February, but not before leaving her family with some detailed instructions. Recently, along with the CNCF (Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation), Anna’s father presented a $50,000 check to Dr. Sam Volchenboum, the pediatric oncologist who treated Anna’s neuroblastoma at Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago. cncfhope.org.
J E James and Tim Lovejoy Cycle for Cancer
J E James Cycles, an online giant in the cycling world, is teaming up with British TV personality Tim Lovejoy to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Having raised money for an NB patient who sadly lost her life last year, J E James Cycles reached out to Lovejoy and challenged him to step up and help them make a difference once again. bikebiz.com.
5k In Memory of Hans Weberling
Saturday November 10th, the community gathered to honor 9 year old Hans Weberling, who lost his battle with NB last month, by walking a 5k in The Woodlands, TX. Festivities included a toy drive, kickball game and snowcones. All proceeds will benefit the CNCF. We can’t wait to hear how it went! thewoodlandstx.com.
Bike Show for Nathan Bulter
Nathan Butler, 5, is currently undergoing treatment for stage IV neuroblastoma. Despite having health insurance, the family is still struggling to pay for Nathan’s ongoing medical expenses. November 17th, the Edmond area is hosting a motorcycle show to help raise money for the Nathan Butler Fund. There will also be a silent auction, inflatables, children’s activities and refreshments. edmondsun.com.
Alexandra’s Butterflies of Hope Benefit
Alexandra Schaney, 12, definitely has a big heart! While undergoing treatment for stage IV neuroblastoma, Alexandra couldn’t help but take notice of all of the other children and families suffering around her. With the help of her family, she started Alexandra’s Butterflies of Hope, a non-profit that helps families of children with life threatening conditions. November 17th a benefit will be held to raise money for the foundation, including a sit down dinner and murder mystery show! triblive.com.
