MILWAUKEE (1/30/2018) – Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has received the first-ever $500,000 Impact Grant from the Gold In September® (G9) Charitable Trust, a childhood cancer foundation non-profit dedicated to increasing awareness and funding for childhood cancer research. The G9 Impact Grant will support the development of a Pediatric Glioma Research Program that will focus on basic and translational research initiatives with the ultimate goal of developing new therapies for children with brain tumors.

G9 is one of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s most committed allies dedicated to supporting Children’s MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders to help raise awareness and inspire action for childhood cancer initiatives. The G9 foundation was founded by Annie Bartosz, in honor of her twin brother Jack Bartosz, who died at age 10 in 2012 from cancer2012 following the death of her twin brother to childhood cancer. After witnessing the devastation the disease had on her family and the other families from around the world she met, Annie became determined to turn the world gold until every child, everywhere survives and thrives following a cancer diagnosis. Since its creation, the foundationG9 has worked to raise awareness of gold (G) and September (9), the designated color and month for childhood cancer, as well advance research initiatives to find safer and more effective cures for pediatric cancer patients in the state of Wisconsin and across the country.

The G9 Neuro-Oncology Research Fund at Children’s MACC Fund CenterImpact Grant will support and expand basic and translational research efforts in pediatric neuro-oncology, resulting in improved access to pediatric neuro-oncology clinical trials for patients at Children’s Hospital of WisconsinWisconsin families and, improved survival outcomes for patients .and a better understanding of the disease process.
